Issues on Education

(i) Reaping academic fruits: - Performance in education has rewarded this school with academic giants who have moved on to become national figures of excellence, a good example being the current Mathioya area member of parliament who excelled to become a pilot among very many others.

- Even though it is the feeling of everybody that there is still plenty of room to make improvements in this regard, a lot is especially now being done, and particularly within the frame-work of our 2009-2013 Strategic Plan to raise the quality of learning and hence improve performance in the school. - Among the rewards the school has received in the past for excellent academic performance include:- (a) The best school in Biology in KCSE in the district
(a) 3rd best school in Physics in KCSE in the district
(b) 3rd best in category A-(1-50) in KCSE in the district

(iii) Academic clinics
Among the various measures and activities the school has put in place and is in the process of reviewing and strengthening so as to raise the academic profile of the school is holding academic clinics where personalized consultations are held between each subject teacher and the parent or guardian and the student for all students in the school with each class assigned a particular day. These sessions as the school has come to realize present unique
opportunities to brainstorm on various efforts that need to be made in order to improve the performance of each individual student. The exercise involves reviewing the student’s academic track record since joining the school and evaluating their needy areas while reinforcing their strong areas. The clinics are held annually.

(iv) Rewarding good performance
In the course of the term and on many other occasions, good performers are recognized and rewarded in various ways by the school while methods and encouragement are devised by the school to uplift the performance of those found to be needy. Besides the school holding brief parties, taking students to trips and on-the-spot rewards and recognition for good performance, there are subject-based club rewards where students give presents to those amongst themselves who have excelled.

(v) Student motivation
Motivation and encouragement of students is an issue that is given a very keen interest and approached from many different angles. It is everybody’s belief in this school that every student who joins our institution has the potential to realize their dreams not only if they are
well guided but also if the smallest progress is encouraged and motivated so that the learners can have the momentum to propel them to the next
level.
As a consequence, the school strives to create a friendly and conducive environment by regularly conducting activities such as academic trips, symposiums, science congress among others so as to focus the student energies in their learning process. Closer interaction and relationship between individual students and teachers also help to make our students feel free to open up and seek assistance of whatever nature.
